The Starbright Sholaces brand board below was provided to me. My task was to design an animation for the word I designed and vectorized.
Below is the word and design that I animated.
I wanted the word “LACE” to move into frame in a fluid, wavy motion. I created 3 storyboards and decided to develop the first one. Using Adobe After Effects, I created a shoelace object, rigged it using the Puppet Tool, and animated it along a path. I did this for both the “LA” shoelace and the “CE” shoelace. The “LA” shoelace entered from the left, and the “CE” shoelace entered from the right.
I chose to animate the Storyboard #1. I made them with the same colors, pink, purple, and light gray. Furthermore, I decided to add more graphics and color to make the project look more interesting. So, I added four of the brand’s star graphics, two large and two small, and animated them twinkling/blinking. Then, I added four bands in the background, two black and two orange, and animated them coming into frame with the Wipe effect. I finalized the project by adding a wiggly effect to the type by adjusting the letters’ positions to increase the sense of charm and positivity.
